GEM Module
Wipers and security live here. Battery off, lower facia and pedal panel clear, unplug, release the catch, slide the GEM down off the ECM.
What It Does
The Generic Electronic Module (GEM) runs the wiper logic and the security side of the body electrics. Treat it as a control unit: battery negative off before it comes out.
Removal
Pull the driver lower facia panel rearwards off its clips and remove the support bracket. Free the fasteners and take out the panel above the pedals. Pivot the GEM wiring catches and unplug every connector. Release the locking catch that holds the GEM to the ECM, then slide the GEM downwards off the ECM.
Refit
Slide the module back up onto the ECM until the catch locks, reconnect every plug, refit the pedal and facia panels, reconnect the battery, then prove wipers and locking.
