Misfire rate catalyst damage – bank 2 NOTE: This DTC will flag only when accompanied by an individual cylinder misfire DTC: P0300 – P0306
Documented for: 2.0L gasoline; 2.5L/3.0L gasoline · System(s): EMS EOBD, EMS OBD II · Factory MIL flag: 2 · Default action: ECM Default: –Maximum engine speed reduced
Common causes
- Cylinder compression low Worn camshaft / broken valve spring(s) Fuel delivery pressure (low / high) Fuel injector(s) restricted / leaking Fuel injector(s) continuously open Fuel contamination Fuel injector circuit fault(s) (Injector DTCs also flagged) Spark plug failure / fouled / incorrect gap ECM to ignition coil primary circuit fault (Cylinder misfire detected DTC also flagged) Ignition coil failure
- Misfire/catalyst damage
- Misfire Rate Catalyst Damage Fault - Bank 2
Quick checks
- Confirm freeze-frame and conditions when the code set
- Inspect connectors, grounds, and harness for the circuit named in the code
- Compare live sensor values vs expected (unplugged/biased sensors are common)
- Check intake boots, PCV, and vacuum lines for splits (very common on aged X-Types)
- Swap coil/plug to another cylinder if misfire is cylinder-specific
Typical fixes
- Stop driving
- fix misfire immediately (plugs/coils)
