Wiper Motor And Washer
Arm nut 17 Nm on the spindle marks, scuttle panel, three fasteners for the front motor and linkage, bottle that also feeds tailgate and headlamp wash where fitted.
Wiper Arms
Park the wipers at rest, bonnet open. White marks on the screen show where the blades must sit on refit. Prise the spindle nut covers, undo the nuts, lift the blade and pull the arm. Corroded arms often need a small puller. Rear arm: plastic cover off, nut off, same story. Refit clean and dry splines, align to the marks, tighten the spindle nut to 17 Nm, clip the cover.
Front Motor And Linkage
Arms off. At the rear of the bay, prise the centre pins, pull the plastic rivets, and lift the scuttle trim and any heat shield. Undo the three mounting nuts or bolts, manoeuvre the motor and linkage out, unplug as it clears.
Rear Motor (Estate)
Tailgate lower trim off. Unplug the glass lock actuator if it shares the bracket. Mark motor and bracket to the tailgate, four nuts, motor, actuator and bracket out as a set. Two bolts separate the lock from the motor if needed. Prove the wipe before the trim goes back.
Washer Bottle And Pumps
The bay reservoir feeds the windscreen. Where fitted it also feeds the tailgate washer and the headlamp washers through an extra pump. Empty it or catch the spill. Bumper off for bottle renewal; move the ABS modulator aside without opening the brake pipes; two nuts on the filler neck; unplug level switch and pump; note hose positions; bottle screws out.
Screen or rear pump and the level switch are reached with the right-hand front wheel and arch liner off: unplug, pull from the grommet, renew the grommet if it is torn, refill and check for leaks. Bonnet jets: sound pad back, hose off, clip depressed, jet out through the top; aim with a small screwdriver. Headlamp jet: headlamp out, two screws on the jet cylinder. Rear jet: with the estate spoiler path used for the high-level stop.
