Glow plugs and injector seals on the diesel

Extracting a seized glow plug without the head off, and the copper washer that stops the soot ring.

Glow plugs seize in the aluminium head. Soak, the correct socket, and patience. Heat on the boss from a hot engine helps. A snapped plug is a spiral extractor job, not a new head, if you stop before you punch it through.

Injector seals are single-use copper washers. Reuse them and a black soot ring appears on the cam cover within a week. Torque to the book; more is not kinder.
