Front Seats And Seat Belts

Slide for the floor bolts, belt guide trim, battery off for a full minute before side-airbag plugs, pretensioner on the inboard rail.

Front Seat Out

Slide the seat fully rearward and remove the front floor bolts. Slide it fully forward, undo the lower seat-belt anchorage on the outside of the seat base (slide up the plastic cover where fitted), remove the rear bolt covers, and undo the rear floor bolts.

Side airbags are fitted. Disconnect the battery negative lead and wait at least one full minute before you touch the seat wiring. Then undo the retaining bolt, unplug the connector under the seat, and lift the seat out.

Pretensioner Caution

Every front seat carries a belt pretensioner on the inboard rail. A hard frontal hit fires a spring that locks the belt; after that the assembly is scrap. Before any work on the seat or belt, battery negative off and wait at least one minute. Do not drop a pretensioner: renew it even if it looks fine. No solvents on the mechanism, no shocks to the seat, and renew any bent stalk or anchorage bracket.

Front Belt

With the seat out, remove the B-pillar trim. Undo the screw and take off the belt guide on the pillar, undo the upper mounting screw, then the inertia-reel bolt, and lift the belt clear.

Rear Cushion Note

Pull up the front of the rear cushion to free the left and right clips, push the cushion rearward, and lift the rear edge. Jaguar wants the front retaining clips renewed whenever that cushion comes out.
