Automatic transmission fluid: spec and level
Not sealed for life. Correct fluid, temperature window, pan gasket kit.
Jaguar wrote “fill for life”. The five-speed does not agree. Burnt fluid and a slip on 3–4 is a neglected pan, not a death sentence if you catch it early.
Use the specified ATF only. Level is set through the standpipe with the box in the published temperature window, engine running, wheels chocked. Cold or hot, the reading is a lie. Renew the pan gasket and the filter; the pan is the filter housing.
